Mist for Air Scrubbing and Outdoor Cooling
You may be surprised to know that mist is not only for outdoor cooling. Yes, atomized water particles effectively reduce temperatures up to 35 degrees Fahrenheit, but mist particles can also clean particulate matter out of the air.
We’re concerned about our environment, especially in California. The effects of past choices on future generations is becoming a reality. And we’ve taken great measures to adjust and respond to the need for awareness of how we are influencing the world around us. But there is still a lot of work to do.
Approximately 1/3 of the air over Los Angeles and San Francisco can be sourced from regions of Asia. And this is heavily infected with black carbon, known to cause severe health issues and premature mortality.
But beyond the intrusion of “foreign” air that travels to us from across the continents, we struggle even more with direct exposure to secondhand smoke. Although many cities and states have outlawed smoking in most public spaces, there still exists a substantial amount of exposure. Since 1964 2.5 million people have died from health related problems caused by secondhand smoke exposure. Between 2011 and 2012, 58 million nonsmokers were exposed to secondhand smoke.
But practical solutions do exist. Utilizing mist systems to scrub the air is a common practice that is rising in facilities that experience fugitive dust issues. But this practice should be expanded to embrace restaurants, bars, resorts, theme parks, parks and other public spaces where secondhand smoke can be an issue.
The health of our public is directly influenced by the health of our environment. Utilizing well engineered technologies aimed to provide alleviation from airborne particulates and provide comfort allows for a greater guest experience, thus a more positive association to your business. It really is as easy as adding a little mist.
